Consumers often underestimate the cost of remodeling bathrooms. A completely gutted bathroom with all new fixtures, cabinetry, flooring, lighting, plumbing and electrical can easily run between $25,000 to $50,000. For the average homeowner, this can cause a bit of sticker shock and disbelief.
The good new is that you don’t need to totally gut your bathroom to create a new and improved space. One great way to update a bathroom is to replace your old fixtures with new and improved fixtures with more features.
Without altering your plumbing, you can easily transform your standard shower in to a luxury two-headed shower with a dual shower head. Companies like Grohe, Danze and Zoe manufacture dual shower heads that can adapt to a standard single shower rough-in.
My favorite is the “Freehander” by Grohe. It combines body spray, 2 shower heads and massage in one unit with lots of range of motion. It has a pivoting arm that contains 2 shower heads with 3 different settings for an exhilarating shower experience. This unit runs around $450.00 and is well worth-it for its added value. So if you don’t have the cash to do a complete bathroom remodel update your fixtures for an easy bathroom pick-me-up.
