These days the kitchen is much more than a place to cook and store food. It is home to many other activities as well as cooking. It is a place to raise your family, surf the internet, socialize, relax, work, pay bills, do homework, watch TV and talk on the phone.
Planning ahead for such activities will give you the peace of mind that your space will be designed to achieve a perfect balance in your life. Many times homeowners design with resale value in mind. Unless you are planning on selling your house within a year after remodeling, you should forget about resale value and design a space that works for your life. Many times specialized features will actually sell a house better than a house that has a monotonous color palette and “cookie cutter” design.
So if you are doing a kitchen remodel, take inventory of your life, your daily activities and household patterns, so that you reap the full benefits of your efforts. A kitchen remodel should improve the functionality of your daily life and in return create a higher quality of life.
