The Country Kitchen

June 24, 2010 , , , , , , , ,

I even surprise myself when I say that one of my favorite styles of kitchen design is the Country Kitchen.  If done right, the Country Kitchen can be very warm and inviting- how a kitchen should be.  Use of color, texture and shapes play a big role in the Country Kitchen.  You don’t have to accesorize with rooster tins, apple tiles or floral curtains, you can use elegant natural decor, like twigs, brick or glazed pottery for a graceful, yet warm look.  Many Country Kitchens use painted and distressed woods, wood countertops, wall paper treatments, apron sinks and vintage appliances.  Use of yellows, pale blues and natural wood tones and old objects for accessores are very common.

This is what you don’t want your Country Kitchen to look like: Arched doors with a painted country scene and oak cabinets.
